THE PERFECT PICTURE SHOW OR THE PERVERTED PICTURE SHOW?
 

Isaiah 8:20“ To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.”

Last Saturday May 23, 2009, was the finale for a reality photo shoot in our city, Nacogdoches, Texas, called “The Perfect Picture Show.”

Many promoters of the show claimed it was an “awesome” opportunity for one to enter the world of modeling with a “Christian” basis, yet no one gave a Bible passage.  Some claimed it was an opportunity to model for Jesus, but gave no Bible passage. I am sure that many of the young people involved in this event were sincere, though they have been misguided.

Anything that honors God will not be contrary to the Word of God.  The Lord Jesus said “… If a man love me, he will keep my words…” John 14:23. “He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings…” John 14:24.  “And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him” 1 John 2:3-4.

According to the scriptures there is no such thing as “modeling for Jesus”.

INTERRACIAL MARRIAGES IN LIGHT OF THE SCRIPTURES

The Bible has much to say about marriage.  In fact, it was ordained by God in the Garden of Eden.

It was God’s plan for a man and a woman to marry before having a sexual relation.  “And Adam knew Eve his wife:...”  Genesis 4:1.  Notice it was not his girlfriend or his live-in, but his wife.

The Bible makes it clear as to God’s attitude toward premarital sex.  “Marriage is honourable in all and the bed undefiled:  but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”  Hebrews 13:4.

When a woman engages in premarital sex, she has played the whore.  When a man does so, he is looked upon as a whoremonger.  While this is accepted in a religious but perverted society, it is certainly NOT accepted in the sight of God.  Rest assure, God will judge this kind of wickedness.

Marriage is not to be taken lightly.  The  matter is so serious it must be entered into with the utmost caution.  It is considered a lifelong commitment.  When one takes a vow in marriage they are committing to one another until death has parted them.  “For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth; but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband.  So then if, while her husband liveth, she be married to another man, she shall be called an adulteress:  but if her husband be dead, she is free from the law; so that she is no adulteress, though she is married to another man.”  Romans 7:2-3.

Easter - Baskets, Bunnies, and Big OLE Eggs

This is the time of the year we celebrate the Resurrection of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. All across the country Churches will be preaching about the Empty Tomb and rightly so. Many of them will then turn to fables and have an Easter Egg Hunt for the children. 2 Timothy 4:4 

Sounds innocent doesn’t it? Besides, it is for a good cause. Isn’t it?  Perhaps we should examine the whole thing in light of the Word of God and history past.

The origin of the egg dates back to ancient Babylon. Their mythology varies depending on the part of the world one is in. The Hindu fables make their egg of a golden color. The people of Japan have their sacred egg brazen.

Titus 2:11-12 “For the Grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness, and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”

            The Bible makes it clear we are saved by Grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8 Salvation is the gift of God and not of works nor of ourselves.  It is totally the work of God. Any who try to add or take away from His work “frustrate” the Grace of God. Galatians 2:21 As a child of God we are to be “good stewards of the manifold Grace of God.” 1 Peter 4:10It is the “true grace of God” wherein we stand.” 1 Peter 5:12  Those who are born again bring forth fruit since the day we “knew the grace of God in truth.” Colossians 1:6

Salvation is in a person, The Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. His is the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be saved. Acts 4:12  I am convinced there are many who know  John Calvin   , and yet they do not know Jesus Christ. True Grace not only Saves, but it Separates us from the world, ungodliness, and the lusts thereof. It teaches us to live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.

            The Sovereign Grace Movement helps turn the Grace of God to lasciviousness. Jude 4 They range from near to full-blown fatalists. Since they believe what is to be will be, they comfort themselves in worldly living.

 1 Timothy 5:19-20  "Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses. Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear."

Twenty-five years ago I surrendered to preach the Word of the Lord. I can well remember when Independent Baptists stood and fought sin and liberalism. I can remember when we were more interested in pleasing Christ than the crowd. It was not what our buddy was doing that we based our belief on, but what the Bible said that mattered. "For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise." 2 Corinthians 10:12

Back then we all thundered our voices from the pulpit,"stand for God even if you have to stand alone." By the time you finish this article I may well have to stand alone on the issues I am presenting here. If that is the case, so be it. Alone or not, I will still be right. The Word of the Lord has not and will not change.

There was a time when Independent Baptists believed the King James Bible to be the Word of God. Not only did you believe it, but you were willing to mark those who did not. "Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them." Romans 16:17

James 5:3-4 “Your gold and silver is cankered; and the rust of them shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh as it were fire…….Behold, the hire of the labourers who have reaped down your fields, which is of you kept back by fraud, crieth: and the cries of them are entered into the ears of the Lord of sabaoth."

2 Corinthians 7:2 “…..we have defrauded no man.”

1 Samuel 12:3-4  “Behold, here I am: witness against me before the Lord, and before his anointed: whose ox have I taken? or whose ass have I taken? or whom have I defrauded? whom have I oppressed? or of whose hand have I received any bribe to blind mine eyes therewith? and I will restore it you. And they said, Thou hast not defrauded us, nor oppressed us, neither hast thou taken ought of any man’s hand.”

The Bible has much to say about fraud. Like Israel of old, Independent Baptists were planted as a noble plant, “wholly a right seed” and are now turned into the degenerate plant of a strange vine. Jeremiah 2:21 Such deterioration is showing up in the message, music, and mentality of our people.

2 Timothy 4:2  “Preach the Word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.”

         
First let me be clear; I would witness to a Negro as quickly as I would any other race. I am sorry for using a term they themselves use in this article.
However, I am not going to avoid the Scriptures in order to have a Negro in our congregation as many of the brethren do. If a Black couple or family wants to come to our Church they need not expect me to avoid what God says about the Hamite. If an interracial couple (Hamite and Gentile, or Hamite and Jew, etc.) wants to come to our assembly they will need to know I will not be silent about their UN scriptural union just to keep them. It has nothing to do with being prejudiced; it is a matter of the Bible.
A preacher not only has the call of God upon him, but the COMMAND of GOD as well, to PREACH THE WORD! Perhaps that’s the problem, too many lack the call of God. They listened to some emotional plea, and answered the call of some ignorant preacher who can now brag on how God called someone under his ministry. No wonder they have no preach in them. As it was in the day of the prophets, so it is now. God said, “I have not sent these prophets, yet they ran: I have not spoken to them, yet they prophesied.” Jeremiah 23:21
When Paul said, “I have not shunned,” he made it clear. We are not to shrink, cower, hold back, conceal, withdraw, or draw back in our message. Our job is to Preach the Word, not edit it. When a preacher starts culling his sermon so he doesn’t offend anyone he is thinking more about his billfold than the Bible.
I appreciate every Preacher who still stands on the Word. I’m thankful for both of you! (I’m kidding of course, at least I hope I am.)
In days gone by you could go to a Bible Conference and hear a few preachers who had the touch of God on them. Men, who had the power of God on them with the mind and message of God, would thunder from the pulpit. They had no fear, nor favor of men.

Before any of you get your panty hose in a wad over the title of this article, let me explain. According to the Bible, anyone who is involved in the heresy of Idolatry and False Religion is committing Spiritual Whoredom.
This article is a critical analysis of Beth Moore and her book, Get Out of that Pit, with a few excerpts from some of her other materials. She claims to like “Straight Talk about God’s Deliverance” and so Straight Talk this will be. Since many are claiming Beth is so “awesome” I thought I ought to examine her work in light of the Scriptures.

I met Ronnie Sutton nearly thirty years ago at a Bible Conference in Arcola, Texas. When I heard him preach I thought, what a great preacher. He has been a pastor and preached in numerous meetings as indicated in the camp meeting below, him being one of the featured speakers. (I do not know if any of the other speakers or the pastor are aware of what I am about to present here. If they did, SHAME ON THEM FOR PREACHING WITH OR HAVING SUCH A MAN IN THEIR PULPIT!)
