Our church was established by the leadership of the Lord, June of 1994. It is our desire to do our part in obeying the great commission of our Lord (Matthew 28:19).
Our priority is preaching the Word of God. Nothing is more important to God than His Word. God’s Son has a name that is above every name (Philippians 2:9) and He magnifies His Word above His name (Psalm 138:2).
It is the Word of God that converts a soul (Psalm 19:7). “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16).
It is by the Word of God that the souls of men are born again (I Peter 1:23). Our church enjoys good fellowship together and we have some of the greatest, Christ exalting, singing you will hear anywhere. Such praise and worship in song prepares the heart to hear and receive the Word of God.
Many churches emphasize plays, parties, movie projectors, psychology, and programs. However, God chose the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. “For after that in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe”. (I Corinthians 1:21)
The religious but lost world has ever tried to replace the preaching of the Word with religious entertainment. To them preaching is foolishness. “For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God” (I Corinthians 1:18). God has not called us to entertain but to evangelize the world. “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek” (Romans 1:16).
The country is full of clubhouse religion that promotes every version of the Bible and contemporary music that promotes feeling rather than faith. However, if you are looking for a church that exalts the Lord Jesus Christ through Bible singing and preaching we invite you to visit our services at Appleby Baptist Church.
CHURCH COVENANT
Having been led, as we believe by the Spirit of God, to receive the Lord Jesus Christ as our Savior and, on the profession of our faith, having been baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, we do now, in the presence of God, and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another as one body in Christ.
We engage, therefore, by the aid of the Holy Spirit to walk together in Christian love; to strive for the advancement of this church, in knowledge, holiness, and comfort: to promote it’s prosperity and spirituality; to sustain it’s worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.
We also engage to maintain family and secret devotions; to religiously educate our children; to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances; to walk circumspectly in the world; to be just in our dealings, faithful in our engagements, and exemplary in our deportment; to avoid all tattling, backbiting, and excessive anger; to abstain from the sale of, and use of, intoxicating drinks as a beverage; to be zealous in our efforts to advance the kingdom of our Savior.
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love; to remember one another in prayer; to aid one another in sickness and distress; to cultivate Christian sympathy in feeling and Christian courtesy in speech; to be slow to take offense, but always ready for reconciliation and mindful of the rules of our Savior to secure it without delay.
We moreover engage that when we remove from this place we will, as soon as possible, unite with some other church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s word.
